4000 Kilograms of Awesome

I don't know if it's some sort of ingrained malayalee thing, but I love elephants, which is why these ads make me tear up like a professional onion chopper:

Awwww. Look at booboo!

I was all cuted-out by the baby elephants running around various temples until my mother made me watch some documentary in which they showed how they separate the baby from its momma for training. And there was an end to my squeeing.

@Stephen: OLIPHAUNTS! :-D That's one of the bits in LOTR I found completely un-relatable, cause, well, Elephants just aren't that exotic and other to us. I must write a fantasy epic where Indian hobbits gape at Moose!

@Amrita: My Squee, she is dead. :-( On the other hand, I think Elephants aren't as endangered in India as in Africa or the rest of Asia because we have established a sort of symbiosis with them, in terms of cultural and religious significance as well as using them as beasts of burden. But yes, the thought of baby elephants separated from their Mommies is deeply saddening.

Verification word: andars - as in "yeh to andars ki baat hai?"
